The surrounding scenery is both dramatic, with deep forests and rolling mountains, and peaceful, with idyllic lakes and gurgling streams. Skinnskatteberg is located in the heart of the Bergslagen region, so traces of the iron industry can be found everywhere. We have more than 400 historic sites, some of which are living museums, like Karmansbo smithy and Röda Jorden, which is Sweden’s oldest ironmaking site. Our beautiful manor houses are also part of our heritage and some of them are popular conference centres. Just walking through the countryside is an adventure, but you can have even more excitement by sleeping in a charcoal burner’s cabin, going on an elk safari, panning for gold or trying some of the many other activities we have to offer.
