Stora Hotellet in Nybro is a genuine family business, in which Lasse and Susanne Karlsson, their daughter Linda and her fiancé, Kristoffer Lindkvist, manage operations along with their expert staff. Their shared vision is clear: to be a true city hotel, the central meeting place in Nybro, a place everyone is welcome and where everyone can find something to suit them.
A vibrant hotel that is continually developing The family has already changed and renewed many things, and this work is continuing. In addition to traditional activities with accommodation, conferences and organised functions, they can now offer chocolate, wine and whisky tastings, cookery courses, ladies’ and jazz evenings and a golf package. “We are always updating our website, http://www.storahotellet.se/. That’s where you can find all the activities,” says Linda. Stora Hotellet is also one of Nybro’s best restaurants and has a range of menus, daily lunches and is fully licensed.
In Nybro, for Nybro
Love of home and personal involvement are particularly noticeable in Stora Hotellet’s cuisine. Locally-produced ingredients, great craftsmanship and a modern touch all go into creating one of the region’s foremost à la carte menus. The hotel also offers a noteworthy wine list that harmonised with the food. The bistro menu is an appetising complement and the range of whiskies is among the very best.

Stora Hotellet is a living part of Nybro’s history and has northern Europe’s largest fresco in the Stadshussalen room, also called the Theandersalen room after the artist, Gunnar Theander. It also has six fantastic chandeliers, specially designed for the room by Simon Gate in the 1930s.
Nybro has plenty to offer. Why not take the chance to play golf? We are also part of the Kingdom of Crystal, so take a trip to the glassworks; watch, enjoy and buy. Perhaps you can try blowing your own glass!
Proximity to the glassworks, nature and Utvandrarnas Hus, the emigrant museum in Växjö, makes Nybro a tourist paradise for those with an interest in glass or the outdoors, as well as for people from the US who are looking to find their roots in the forests of Småland. Nybro also has a large swimming pool, bowling and Astrid Lindgren’s World in Vimmerby or Agebo aktivitetsgård, south of Nybro, are good days out for families.
Stora Hotellet is easy to get to. It is just over 30 km from Kalmar, which has a train link to Nybro – the hotel is within walking distance of the railway station. We look forward to welcoming you and hope that you experience and appreciate the hotel’s relaxing and personal atmosphere!
