The Holmö archipelago is located in the north of the Baltic Sea and really come to life in summer time. You will meet folksong enthusiasts, summer strollers and bird watchers, all of whom come here to enjoy the charms of the islands, the amazing countryside, the wild animals and the bird life. Not to mention a variety of interesting events, like the traditional midsummer festivities, the mail rowing event, the Norrland week of Holmön, the song festival and the island race for woman. You can take a day trip to Holmön, or if you want a really unique experience, you can overnight at the lighthouse place of Bergudden or at the old vicarage. The history of the island is best understood by visiting Holmön’s boat museum, where you can see boats built and used on the island during the last 500 years.

Discover Holmön by bicycle
If you want to discover the island’s magnificent countryside on your own, try biking. You can hire a bicycle with a packed picnic lunch at Holmö Havsbad. Taste the island’s specialities in a silent forest glade or enjoy a cup of coffee on the cliffs at Berguddens lighthouse. You can also buy refreshments at the village store.
Come hiking and spend the night in beautiful archipelago countryside
The 14 km long hiking trail on Ängesön is perfect for those wishing to get a little closer to nature. The trail is new and has many prepared rest areas. It offers a wide variety of terrain with beaches, forests, flat rocks and fields of rubble.
Discover the islands by car, boat or snowmobile.
Take a boat trip to watch for seals or go to an own island with a beach and isolated sea shores to explore for flotsam and jetsam. Or rent a sea kayak or Canadian canoe and paddle around among the skerries on eastern side of the Islands. Sail with the Sloop of Holmön to Stora Fjäderägg
If you wish to experience something really special, we can recommend a trip on the Sloop of Holmön – a reconstruction of a traditional trading sloop, sailed in the traditional way. The trip takes you to Stora Fjäderägg’s lighthouse, just an hour away from Holmön. Stay the night at the youth hostel, enjoy the light summer nights, wander across sun-drenched fields of heather and rubble, explore the island’s labyrinths and take a look at the bird sanctuary.
