A large activity centre in a small province.
Dalsland Aktiviteter has developed many new activities since it was founded 17 years ago. Last year we bought and restored yet another church-boat that takes 30 people, making us one of the largest collectors of church-boats in Sweden, some of which are used frequently by both school children and companies.
The company currently has 14 horses and offers several 4 – 6 –day riding-tours, two of which, Dalslandsritten and Expedition Dalsland, are being introduced in 2010. Apart from these rather extreme riding-tours there are also several treks on offer from between one hour through forests and fields to day treks with lunch or evening treks to nearby restaurants!
International standard teambuilding exercises! Our international guests last year included Discovery Channel, Volvo and Arla Foods as well as OAS, Outdoor Academy of Sweden and several leading large outdoor recreation companies. We arranged teambuilding exercises for them where product displays are alternated with activities.
More activities for children! We have put a great deal of effort into providing children with more activities during the summer and we now also have an exciting obstacle course for the small children, easier climbing routes on our 11-metre-high indoor climbing wall as well as a very gentle pony that can be both driven and ridden. Our biggest ever venture is now complete – a 600 m2 reception centre with a reception, restaurant, souvenir shop and activity area that contains, among other things, a pike aquarium, gold washing, moose information and interactive activities. We believe that this will give our activity centre an incredible facelift and will be perfect for children, youths and summer tourism, says Pontus. We have been continually adding new activities for tourists during the summer months and we now have a wide range of activities on offer for many different age groups. Dalslands Aktiviteter has become a popular destination in western Sweden thanks to its different activities, which include tame moose, riding, gold washing, shooting and highaltitude tracks along with accommodation in cabins and Lapp huts. The Lapp huts are extremely spacious and beautifully situated alongside Lake Iväg. The largest hut holds 150 people! A total of about 200 people per day visit our activity centre, Pontus explains. During the late summer the BBC spent a week with us filming a TV series together with an English family. The series was aired in autumn 2009 and will hopefully put us on the map even in England since the programme has around 5 million viewers, says Pontus.
